Are you looking for new games to play? Happily, there's a lot to choose from in March -- whether you're a fan of fighting games, RPGs, out-and-out action or weird VR experiences about floating through space.

Here's a rundown of our top picks for the month of March.

(All dates listed are North American release dates.)

Far Cry Primal (Mar. 1)

What's it about? Far Cry Primal ditches the modern setting of the series' past games, turning the clock back to 10,000 B.C. -- when the hottest invention of the moment was literally fire. Spend some time running through humanity's violent pre-history, taming bears and sending your pet attack owl after all the other cave-people.

Available on: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

The Division (Mar. 8)

What's it about? Destiny and Diablo fans: This one's for you. The Division is an RPG set in post-apocalyptic New York City, after a viral epidemic wipes out vast portions of the city and triggers a strict quarantine. As a member of a secret government sleeper force, it's on you to re-take the city while amassing huge piles of loot.

Available on: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Mar. 4)

What's it about? Nintendo's first big Wii release (and last big GameCube release), Twilight Princess sees the green-clad hero Link setting out to save his world of Hyrule from the Twilight Realm, a parallel dimension that's slowly eating away at the known world. Link has help from a mysterious figure named Midna and a magical ability that allows him to transform himself into a wolf.

This HD remake features improved visuals and game-enhancing support for certain Amiibos.

Available on: Wii U

Hitman (Mar. 11)

What's it about? Agent 47 is back. Io Interactive's classic series of contract killing games returns with a new emphasis on large, open environments that give players all the tools they need to solve problems -- in this case, killing a target -- in any number of ways. Hitman also has an inventive release schedule that's built around launching new levels on regular basis.

Available on: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

EA Sports UFC 2 (Mar. 15)

What's it about? This is EA Sports' second entry in what's shaping up to be a new annual series. UFC 2 improves on the basic building blocks of last year's game, stepping up the A.I. and fight mechanics, while also introducing an assortment of new modes and -- most importantly -- a roster of female fighters.

Available on: PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Disney Infinity 3.0: Marvel Battlegrounds (Mar. 15)

What's it about? The Marvel Battlegrounds playset for Disney Infinity 3.0 adds a whole new, beat-'em-up-inspired wrinkle to the game. Heroes and villains face off in battle arenas that support up to four players. If you're a fan of over-the-top fighting games like Nintendo's Smash Bros., give this one a look.

Available on: Android/iOS, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One

Pokken Tournament (Mar. 18)

What's it about? Take a bunch of Pokémon; toss them into a pot with the game developers behind some of the most highly regarded fighting games in the world; mix well, and serve hot. That's Pokken Tournament. It's a 3D fighting game with all the depth of a Tekken or a Soulcalibur, except the roster of fighters is all Pokémon, all the time.

Available on: Wii U

Hyrule Warriors Legends (Mar. 25)

What's it about? Hyrule Warriors Legends is a Nintendo 3DS-ified take on the popular 2014 Wii U game, Hyrule Warriors. The most powerful heroes and villains from Nintendo's Zelda universe face off against hordes of weak, easily dispatched baddies. The resulting one vs. army gameplay is thrilling.

Available on: Nintendo 3DS

Adrift (Mar. 28)

What's it about? Remember the 2014 film Gravity? That's essentially Adrift. You're the sole survivor aboard a space station that's been shattered by forces unknown. As you float around in the zero-G environment of the shattered station modules and open space, you gather oxygen canisters to stay alive while piecing together what happened and, ultimately, escaping.

Available on: PC/Oculus Rift (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions coming later in 2016)

MLB The Show 16 (Mar. 29)

What's it about? For fans of baseball and fully licensed sports simulations, Sony's MLB The Show series is the best (and only) option. It doesn't seem like this eleventh entry in the long-running series re-invents anything, but it doesn't need to. Fans of Major League Baseball keep coming back to this Major League Baseball simulator, year after year.

Available on: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
