Call her Captain America, because she just saved Bucky.

Bucky the squirrel, that is.

As reported by Sarah Kraus of Global News, Jannett Talbott (who is Canadian, so not actually Captain America) noticed that one of the squirrels in her feeder was suffering from severely overgrown teeth.

Bucky's problem is exactly what it looks like: severely overgrown teeth. Rodent teeth never stop growing, but normally they get worn down naturally as the teeth rub against each other and against other hard surfaces, like nut shells.

The trouble comes when the teeth are misaligned, so there's nothing to keep their growth in check. That presents a serious complication for the rodent, who may struggle to eat and starve to death or get injuries from the teeth digging back into their faces or skulls.

Talbott wasn't about to leave Bucky to that ugly fate. The next time the opportunity presented itself, she grabbed Bucky and cut his teeth with a cuticle trimmer, following a technique she learned on YouTube. "It literally took under 10 minutes to do it," she said.

You can see the before and after right here.

Talbott then released Bucky back outside, where she still sees him around from time to time. Awww.

She's aware that this problem could arise again, depending on the root cause. If it does, she says she's prepared to go through that process to save Bucky again.

So if we've learned anything from this adorable story, let it be this: Sometimes, it's a really good idea to perform amateur dentistry on your friends.
