Table of Contents

Mashable writers and editors spend all year testing tech products to determine if they live up to the hype and are worth the money. In 2024, we reviewed 106 products — some fell short, some were perfectly fine, and some were award-worthy.

We rate products on a 5-point scale and anything 4.5 or higher is eligible for a Mashable Choice Award. This honor is bestowed on only the best of the best. If it's a Mashable Choice Award winner, you can be sure the product is worth purchasing.

This year, we had 27 winners. Below, we'll tell you why we loved each one and why it was worthy of an award.

The Good & The Bad

  • High-contrast display with adjustable warmth and brightness
  • Battery life lasts 12-weeks
  • Lightweight and compact size
  • Great Libby integration
  • The power button is on the bottom
  • No internal gyroscope

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Kindle Paperwhite (2024).

"The Kindle Paperwhite is not just the best Kindle but the best e-reader overall. It's compact and lightweight, just the right size for toting around. The screen strikes the balance of tech and paper, and the adjustable warmth makes reading in the evening better for your eyes. With the release of the 2024 model, it's the fastest Kindle yet, which is good news.

While Amazon still leaves some to be desired, it remains the best e-reader you can buy. It's $10 more expensive than the last model but is still a good value." —Samantha Mangino, Shopping Reporter

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Insanely good motion stabilization
  • Return of GPS geotagging
  • Impressive new lens mods, including Ultra-Wide, Macro, and ND Filter 4-pack
  • Professional quality footage up to 5.3K
  • Shoot HLG HDR video
  • Edit vertical and widescreen videos from the same raw footage
  • Longer battery life compared to Hero 12
  • Only modest updates from the Hero 12
  • Problems with overheating in low-airflow conditions
  • New lens mods and ND filters sold separately

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the GoPro Hero 13 Black.

"The new GoPro absolutely justifies its $399.99 price tag. It shoots professional-quality video footage underwater, on the trail, and in the snow. For creators and pro videographers, the new lens mods, accessories, and ND filters give you even more powerful tools for capturing 'I can't believe I just shot that' footage. GoPro has also answered users' GPS prayers and brought back geotagging.

That doesn't mean it's the right camera for everyone. If you're a casual user and already have the Hero 12 Black, I probably wouldn't upgrade." —Timothy Beck Werth, Mashable Contributor

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Long battery life
  • Tougher display
  • Intuitive new Camera Control
  • Noticeably lighter
  • Improved zoom
  • Screen still 60Hz
  • Camera Control video capture stops after press-and-hold gesture

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

"For the battery life increase alone, the entry-level iPhone 16 models are worth it, but I recommend the iPhone 16 Plus even more.

Battery life anxiety is real. Nothing is worse than wondering if I'll be able to order an Uber at the end of the night because I'm only at 20 percent. With the iPhone 16 Plus, however, lasting nearly 19 hours on a single charge, its power efficiency makes it worth every single penny.

On top of that, there's a new Camera Control button, a tougher display, improved zoom up to 2X, the inheritance of the Action Button, and three stunning new colors (ultramarine, pink, and teal). Oh, and Apple Intelligence, too. Even if you don't care about AI, you'll eventually get a sense of FOMO while everyone is sending Genmoji to each other. And well you can't." —Kimberly Gedeon, Former Tech Editor

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Epically long battery life for Pro Max
  • Overflowing with performance
  • Camera Control button more fun than expected
  • Apple is right; the ultrawide lens has improved
  • No 'blue titanium' colorway
  • iPhone 16 Pro starts at 128GB

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

"If you have money to blow, I highly recommend the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I mean, we're talking about 25 hours of battery life here. As someone who is big on power efficiency, that alone is worth the price.

Some are excited about 4K video capture at 120Hz, but the real star feature here is Audio Mix, which gives your videos a noticeable, studio-esque improvement in sound quality. So if you're a content creator who wants an edge over your competitors, this is the phone for you." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Excellent ANC
  • Honeyed sound quality
  • New compact, portable case
  • One-size-fits-most design
  • Head gestures for rejecting/accepting calls
  • Mild soreness on "Crus of Helix"

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Apple AirPods 4.

"I love them so much, they have replaced my AirPods Pro as my new daily driver earbuds. Fit was one of my concerns with my AirPods Pro, but now, I don't have that issue with the new one-size-fits-most design on the AirPods 4.

The active noise cancellation is elite, allowing me to immerse myself into the honeyed soundwaves that emanate from the AirPods 4. The AirPods 4 are, without a doubt, the best in-ear earbuds I've ever tested in a long while." —KG

yellow and silver dyson headphones

Dyson Ontrac headphones

Best headphones for battery life

The Good & The Bad

  • Extremely comfortable for extended wear
  • Very impressive noise cancellation technology
  • Insane 55-hour battery life — with ANC engaged
  • Customizable color options for unique look
  • Excellent sound quality, from bass to treble
  • Prominent "Dyson" branding is a turn-off
  • Multi-point Bluetooth pairing disappoints
  • A chunky love-it or hate-it design

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Dyson Ontrac headphones.

"These headphones sound superb, truly. They're the second-best audio experience I've ever heard. The only sound that beats it? xMems ultrasonic audio technology, which isn't yet available to consumers.

I won't expand too much on the comfort of these headphones because I don't need too many words to describe it: They're really comfortable.

In terms of audio quality, battery life, and comfort, these headphones definitely justify that price tag. And if you like the customization aspects of the design, then they're a smart purchase. But if aesthetics and vibes are as important to you as comfort and audio quality, then your decision comes down to how much you like the OnTrac design." —TBW

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Multiple bass levels
  • Great noise cancellation
  • Full 360-degree sound
  • Great price for what you get
  • Intuitive on-ear controls
  • Customizable EQs
  • Design is a little clunky
  • Microphone sounds far away

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Sony ULT Wear headphones.

"We try not to make sweeping claims in our reviews at Mashable, but these honestly might be my favorite pair of headphones I’ve tried — especially when you consider the price. The booming sound makes other (decidedly good) headphones sound flat, and the option to punch the bass up two levels is something I didn’t even know I needed in a pair of headphones.

The design is not as sleek as other headphones I’ve worn or seen, but that’s a fair tradeoff for amazing sound and a more affordable price." —Miller Kern, Deputy Editor of Shopping and Reviews

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • FlowKnit ear cushions stay comfortable all day
  • Mic input quality is great
  • Low latency even in wireless mode
  • Good passive noise cancellation
  • Decent battery life
  • Exposed wiring near sides can get caught on things
  • Wish the microphone was retractable instead of removable

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro.

"After spending a few weeks with the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro, I can confidently say that you should look no further if you've been searching for a new gaming headset because it's the best I've ever used. It sounds great, feels great to wear, and I can't see myself switching headsets anytime soon.

Although $199.99 isn't cheap for a gaming headset, the value you get for your money here is just fantastic. The shortcomings are few and far between, and the headset's combination of comfort, quality, and style in one package certainly justifies the investment." —Dylan Haas, Lead Shopping Reporter

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • ULT setting punches up bass
  • Great sound quality
  • Max volume is loud
  • Customizable EQs
  • Comes in four colors
  • Battery life not as good as some competitors
  • Strap is hard to adjust

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Sony ULT Field 1.

"During my testing, I only briefly set the Sony ULT Field 1 speaker to max volume, and let me tell you, this thing gets loud. I can’t imagine ever playing music at full volume in my apartment. This speaker would be amazing for beach days or barbecues, though. Or house parties if you don’t share any walls with neighbors. And because it’s waterproof, this has become my go-to outdoor speaker and bathroom speaker.

The bass is punchy, it comes in cute colors, and the price is on the budget-friendly side. Sony's ULT Field 1 is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a new Bluetooth speaker." —MK

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Super easy to connect to your TV
  • Provides a noticeable improvement to dialogue
  • Improves the audio of TV shows and movies
  • Dialogue AI assist mode is useful
  • Compact design
  • Struggled to connect to wireless Bose speakers
  • Price is most reasonable when it's on sale

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Bose Smart Soundbar.

"If you want a true Hi-Fi experience with all the possible bells and whistles, you'll need to pay $1,000 or more. And if you buy a budget soundbar for $300 or less, you might as well just stick with your regular TV speakers, as there won't be much of a difference.

For most users, I think this soundbar hits the sweet spot in terms of features, sound, and value for the dollar. It's worth the money, but if you can pick it up for the sale price of $399, it's really worth the money." —TBW

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Ultra-long battery life
  • Razor-thin, featherweight tablet
  • Astonishing performance
  • Gorgeous OLED display
  • Luscious, rich audio
  • Sky-high pricing with upgrades
  • Some missing features gen-over-gen

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the iPad Pro 2024 (13-inch, M4).

"The perfect user for the iPad Pro 2024 is a professional digital artist who often steps away from their desktop PC and needs a sleek, on-the-go device that can handle taxing workloads (on apps like ZBrush or Nomad Sculpt, for example) while they're traveling from A to B.

If you're not a pro artist, another niche that would love the iPad Pro is Apple enthusiasts who don't mind dropping at least $1,000 on a luxury slate that has a brilliant, sleek display, a striking high-contrast panel, and a shockingly long battery life." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Lightweight
  • Great picture and sound quality
  • Amazon Silk browser has improved a lot
  • Limited app selection
  • Kept disconnecting from my WiFi while streaming video

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Amazon Fire HD 10.

"Amazon's Fire HD 10 is an affordable alternative to comparable Samsung or Apple tablets, but it’s important to understand exactly what you are — and aren’t — getting for the low price. The Amazon App Store has an extremely limited selection of apps compared to the Google Play Store or the Apple Store.

However, I was impressed with this tablet otherwise. While it’s a little too big for comfortable reading, it’s great for streaming video and gaming, has a long battery life, and is fast and lightweight." —SaVanna Shoemaker, Mashable Contributor

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Minimal, aesthetically pleasing design
  • Convenient and super portable
  • Easy to use and compatible with most laptops and tablets
  • Great battery life
  • Kind of expensive
  • Trackpad isn’t *quite* as good as it could be

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk.

"Whether you’re someone who works from your kitchen table, travels a lot, or loves camping out at a coffee shop, investing in the Casa Pop-Up Desk would be a great way to upgrade your remote-work kit — without needing to lug around a ton of separate pieces. It’s beautiful, functional, and oh-so-convenient, which means it’s definitely a worthwhile investment for those looking for a travel-friendly kit." —RJ Andersen, Mashable Contributor

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Way brighter and more vivid than similar 4K monitors
  • Impressive adjustable metal base that changes height, tilts, and swivels
  • DisplayPort out supports daisy chaining multiple external displays
  • Built-in KVM switch for controlling two computers at once
  • Connect to and charge MacBooks using only a USB-C
  • Sometimes on sale for $100 off usual price
  • A little pricey for the average user
  • DisplayPort doesn’t work well with M2 MacBook Air
  • Not ideal for gaming

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Philips Creator Series monitor.

"For the casual user, I’d probably recommend going for a cheaper option — you can get a similar size 4K UHD monitor for a couple hundred dollars less than this one, especially if you wait for a decent sale. However, for creative professionals who need a higher level of brightness and impressive color accuracy for their work, the Creator Series is a smart investment. And if you like the idea of a swivel screen that can support portrait orientation, or you want to utilize the DisplayPort technology to extend your monitors, then it’s definitely worth the splurge.

After testing it out on my own desktop, I can tell you that this 4K monitor delivers a truly gorgeous display that definitely stands out in a crowded market." —RA

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Incredible contrast ratio and color accuracy
  • Blazing fast 240 Hz refresh rate
  • Ultra-wide 4K resolution gives mind-blowing detail
  • High-quality aluminum stand
  • Default color profile is off, too cold for out-of-the-box
  • Pricey

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Corsair Xeneon Flex.

"There’s so much to love about Corsair’s Xeneon Flex. In person, these colors are unlike any monitor I’ve seen before. They are vibrant, they are accurate, and they have an extremely deep contrast ratio. I could definitely see folks doing design work or editing videos professionally on a monitor like this, but I’d almost be worried that reality would pale in comparison.

It’s impossible for me to recommend a monitor this expensive for the average consumer, so if you’re just watching movies, casually gaming, or checking emails, you’ll probably want to skip this one and opt for something with a lower price tag and a less intense refresh rate.

That being said, if you’re a hardcore monitor enthusiast — or a gamer who really values a perfect, vibrant, and insanely gorgeous display — Corsair’s Xeneon Flex is the full package, so much so that I’m currently trying to figure out how to save up for one myself." —RA

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Easy to assemble
  • Quiet and smooth motor
  • Converts from sitting to standing in seconds
  • Must pay extra for desktop

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the FlexiSpot E7 standing desk.

"If you work from home, then this desk is 100 percent worth the investment. It has only done good things for my productivity, my focus, and my health. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to a regular desk (nor do I plan to)." — SS

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Easy to use
  • Fast process
  • Non-invasive
  • Compact, portable design
  • Endless battery life
  • Slow progress
  • Appears to get worse before it gets better

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the NIRA Pro Laser.

"[After] 90 days, while there was definitely improvement to my skin, it was subtle. It took three months to see any significant smoothing to my crows' feet. It also seemingly gets worse before it gets better. However, the operative word here is "better." My skin did get better. It just took some time to get there. And it will take even more time to get the results I want.

The plus side is that the NIRA Pro Laser facilitates fast, at-home treatments. Whether you're a busy parent or an overwhelmed worker bee, you can always find time in your day for the NIRA Pro Laser. It only takes a minute or two.

So yes, the NIRA Pro Laser is totally worth it. It's the best beauty tech device I've used in 2024. Just make sure you keep your patience and consistency handy because you're going to need it." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Comfortable, lightweight design
  • Private viewing experiences
  • Triple-monitor virtual setup
  • Stunning display for streaming visuals
  • Text could be crisper
  • Limited viewing for spatial computing

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Viture Pro XR glasses.

"At first, I thought the Viture Pro XR glasses, nearing a price tag of $500, were a bit overpriced. I would have knocked about $100 off and been satisfied with the value. I understand that the Viture Pro XR can deliver privacy-based experiences by being a wearable display that offers a 135-inch virtual screen, and this is pretty cool, but I wasn't convinced that they're $500 worth of cool.

However, the SpaceWalker app changes everything. After downloading it on your MacBook and giving it screen-recording permission, you can basically get a three-monitor setup right before your very eyes. This means you can literally carry three displays with you everywhere you go, which is brilliant for frequent travelers, like myself, who often work on a MacBook before boarding a plane, for example." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Eye-catching OLED dual displays
  • Transforms into several different modes
  • App-juggling mastery
  • Clicky detachable keyboard
  • Decent battery life
  • Quiet audio
  • Forgettable webcam

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Asus Zenbook Duo.

"When I first laid eyes on the Asus Zenbook Duo, it terrified me. Although I’ve reviewed my fair share of dual-display laptops, the Zenbook Duo looks like double trouble with its intimidating design. Dual-stacked screens aren’t a familiar design, and as such, I was afraid that there would be some sort of learning curve to using it. However, to my surprise, I quickly found my flow while using the Zenbook Duo.

It's priced at less than $2,000, delivering a rich, multi-screen experience in a market filled with boring single-screen laptops for twice the price. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Single-display laptops are now canceled. After working with the Zenbook Duo, I'm spoiled. How can I work on my MacBook Air, my daily driver, without missing the masterful app-juggling capabilities of the Zenbook Duo?" —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Jaw-dropping battery life
  • M3 MacBook-beating performance
  • Sleek, minimalist, sturdy design
  • Anti-fingerprint chassis
  • Enticing AI features
  • Some app compatibility quirks

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Microsoft Surface Laptop (2024).

"With nearly 23 hours of battery life and MacBook-beating performance, of course this Microsoft laptop is worth it. The Surface Laptop 7 is the longest-lasting Windows laptop we've tested in 2024, blowing my expectations out of the water.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 combines a sleek design, a powerful Snapdragon X Elite chipset, and the longest battery life for ultimate productivity and AI-powered creativity. Apple must be sweating through its armpits with the launch of the Surface Laptop 7 because — holy cow — this is one hell of a laptop.

Its power and energy efficiency are serious, but its AI-boosted apps make Windows fun again. For the first time in a long time, the preinstalled apps on a Windows PC are offering attention-stealing entertainment. It makes me feel like a kid again.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Surface Laptop 7 is the better choice over M3 MacBooks." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Great performance for mid-level laptop
  • Decent build quality
  • Clicky, satisfying keyboard
  • Anti-fingerprint chassis
  • Nice variety of ports
  • No miniLED nor OLED option
  • No upgrade beyond 4070
  • Audio is loud but tinny

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Dell Alienware m16 R2 laptop.

"The Alienware m16 R2 outputs impressive performance numbers on demanding games, but don't bother unplugging it from an outlet. (Yes, it's a gaming laptop, but even compared to the rigs we've tested, the battery runtime is quite short.)

You should also consider the tinny, hollow audio, the low-brightness display, and lame webcam. I'd say it's worth it, as long as you don't care about the aforementioned flaws.

Despite its minor flaws, the Alienware m16 r2 is worth a spot on our best gaming laptops list. After all, this is the ultimate RTX 4070 beast of a gaming laptop you can get." —KG

MSI Cyborg 14 on a tabletop

MSI Cyborg 14 laptop

Best budget-ish gaming laptop

The Good & The Bad

  • Unbelievably lightweight
  • Powerful, yet portable
  • Crisp display
  • Decent battery life for a gaming laptop
  • "Transparent" touches
  • Dim screen
  • So-so audio

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the MSI Cyborg 14.

"The MSI Cyborg 14 isn't for enthusiasts who turn their noses up at mid-level graphics, last-generation CPUs, and less-than-premium keyboards. It's for casual gamers who want something that's 'good enough.'

It delivers decent frame rates on graphics-intensive, triple-A titles and a good display for indoor gamers. Plus, it's unbelievably light. If you're looking for a decent gaming laptop for your travels, the MSI Cyborg 14 is a good choice." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Visually attractive OLED panel
  • Sturdy build quality
  • Impressive performance
  • Battery life OK for discrete GPU
  • Fan noise gets irksome

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Acer Swift X 14.

"Overall, the Acer Swift X 14 has a darling OLED display that is a visual treat. Plus, for photo and video editors who need a machine that can handle their workloads, the Swift X 14 has plenty of graphics and processing oomph (though you can hear them working with the fan noise kicking in). Plus, there's a microSD card for creators and a fingerprint reader for security-minded users.

On top of that, you can squeeze out more than eight hours from the Acer Swift X 14, which isn't half bad for a laptop with discrete graphics.

Everything else, including the webcam, audio, and keyboard are yawn-worthy, but they're not terrible either. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the Swift X 14 to users who want a Windows PC that can handle their creative tasks during the day — and facilitate gaming at night." —KG

HP OmniBook X on a table

HP OmniBook X

Best budget-friendlier Copilot+ laptop

The Good & The Bad

  • Incredible battery life
  • MacBook-beating CPU performance
  • Satisfying, clicky keyboard
  • Decent display
  • Fun AI-powered features
  • Mid audio
  • Yawn-worthy design

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the HP OmniBook X.

"The HP OmniBook X was my first experience with a Snapdragon X Elite-based Copilot+ PC machine — and I'm impressed. Qualcomm wasn't wrong. Its processor does, indeed, beat the M3 MacBooks. Plus, it lasts over 16 hours on a charge, a feat that was completely unheard of for Windows laptops in recent times.

And finally, the Copilot+ PC aspect makes Windows fun again. Do you remember when Windows was a total blast? As a kid, when I'd lose interest in browsing the internet, I'd fall back on pre-installed games like Solitaire, Minesweeper, or 3D Pinball. With the new AI-powered features, you don't need Google Chrome, or whatever browser you use, to enjoy your laptop. You can simply fire up Paint or the Photos app. It'll keep you entertained for hours." —KG

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Great battery life
  • 9MP webcam
  • Decent performance
  • Addictive keyboard
  • High-fidelity sound
  • Oddly placed ports

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the HP Spectre x360 14.

"I don’t necessarily need Windows laptops to meet the runtimes of the latest MacBooks, which can climb to 19 hours. But at the very least, they should last 10 hours on a single charge — and I wasn’t seeing that in my testing for quite some time.

But here comes the Spectre x360 14, finally breaking Windows’ poor battery life trend with an acceptable runtime that makes it one of the best — if not the best — Windows laptops you can buy (for now).

The HP Spectre x360 14 seems to finally cover all the bases necessary for a satisfying Windows experience, including decent battery life, smooth performance, crisp sound, and more." —KG

silver oura ring on a white table

Oura Ring 4

Best ring fitness tracker

The Good & The Bad

  • AI advisor is what other health and fitness wearables are missing
  • Stunning slick design
  • Smooth interior
  • More accurate readings
  • Not ideal for Android users
  • Different pricing depending on finish

Why We Like It

Read our full review of the Oura Ring 4.

"The Samsung Galaxy Ring utilizes Galaxy AI to generate an Energy Score (a daily measurement that analyzes your sleep, heart rate, and activity level), but Oura takes it one step further with AI, giving users an advisor that understands your data and lets you ask it questions.

This is important for someone like me who gets overwhelmed with data, from my activity levels and sleep score to my stress readings and blood oxygen readings. What does all of this mean? Thanks to the AI advisor, I can ask it questions like, 'Based on my data, what can I do to become a healthier individual?'

Overall, the Oura Ring 4 is a wellness powerhouse with a sleek design and cutting-edge AI that takes personalized health tracking to the next level." —KG

"This fitness tracker has an impressive amount of features, apps, and customizations available. Sure, there are one or two kinks that could be worked out, but overall it’s an incredible device that is super helpful for someone hoping to get into a fitness routine or push themselves that much further at the gym. This Fitbit model is priced just under a hundred dollars, and with the monthly $10 charge for premium features, still feels like an absolute steal. For anyone new to fitness or any dedicated gym rat, the Fitbit Inspire 3 gets you more than you pay for." —Sam Stone, Mashable Contributor
