SAVE 49%: ExpressVPN is the best service for bypassing geo-restrictions. A one-year subscription to ExpressVPN is on sale for £82.82 and includes an extra three months for free — 49% off for a limited time. This plan comes with a money-back guarantee.

All anyone is talking about right now is Threads. At least, that's how it seems after a quick scroll.

Threads is being billed as a rival to Twitter, and is tied to Instagram. Interested parties will naturally want to see for themselves what all the fuss is about, but that might not be possible at the moment.

Do you need a VPN for Threads?

VPNs are valuable cybersecurity tools that protect your data and identity when you're online, so we recommend always having a VPN by your side whenever you're navigating the online world. But that's not the real reason you need a VPN for Threads.

Threads became available in the U.S. and UK for iOS and Android on July 6, but the EU does not have access. To gain access to Threads from the EU, users will need to use a VPN.

VPNs can hide your real IP address and connect you to a secure server in another location. This process tricks services like Threads into thinking you are connecting from a supported location, meaning you can bypasses online restrictions and secure access from anywhere in the world. This might sound complicated, but the process is actually really straightforward.

How to unblock Threads for free

Unblock Threads by following these simple steps:

  1. Sign up for a VPN

  2. Download the app to your device of choice (the best VPNs have apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, and more)

  3. Open up the app and connect to a server in a location that supports Threads

  4. Download Threads for iOS or Android (you may have to change your location on the app store before searching)

  5. Try Threads from anywhere in the world

The best VPNs for bypassing geo-restrictions are not free, but they do tend to offer free trials or money-back guarantees. By using these offers, you can unblock Threads without committing with your cash. This obviously isn't a long-term solution, but it does give you the opportunity to try Threads for free before the app is eventually available everywhere.
