The official trailer for action comedy Jackpot! is here, applying a deadly monkey's-paw twist to the idea of winning the lottery.

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, struggling actor Katie Kim (Awkwafina) becomes the unexpected winner of California's newly established Great Lottery. Unfortunately, she soon learns that this particular windfall comes with a twist: If anybody kills her before sundown, they can legally claim the multi-billion dollar jackpot instead.

Helped by amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena), Katie finds herself in a fight for her life as she struggles to survive until nightfall. Further complicating matters is Noel's rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who aims to poach Katie as a client and secure her commission.

Of course, this potential payout is entirely dependent on Katie staying alive, which will be difficult considering that thousands of incentivised Californians know her face and apparently have no moral issues with murder. Though, on the bright side, the publicity will probably give her acting career a boost if she survives.

Jackpot! arrives Aug. 15 on Prime Video.
